What better way to show your girl you love her than to take the time to do something sweet for her? We all know that actions speak louder than words, so let’s take a look at the special things that you can do to make your girlfriend happy and feel loved.

In this article, I’ll go over special things to do for her on a daily basis, on anniversaries, on birthdays, and sometimes just because you feel like it! Thoughtful gestures are one of the best ways to make you two feel closer and reinforce the complicity between you. They can make her realize how well you know her and how much you care.

All of the ideas shared with you here can be used whenever you want! I’m going to share some ideas for certain situations and events, but it’s ultimately up to you to take anything that inspires you and use it to make your girlfriend smile whenever you want.

Cute things to do for your girlfriend: What to do on a regular basis

Sometimes people forget how easy it is to do things for their significant other without having to spend a fortune! Why do we sometimes think that if we want to do something nice it has to be an expensive piece of jewelry or an expensive dinner at a fancy restaurant? Sure, you can splurge sometimes and yes, your significant other deserves to be treated, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do other things on a regular basis that break your bank account!

All you have to do is think about the things that your partner enjoys doing, their hobbies, their tastes, and what you could enjoy doing together as well. This is someone with whom you spend a great deal of time so chances are that you’ve gotten to know her quite well. Does she like the great outdoors or is she more of a homebody? Is she interested in cuisine or is she more into something savory that reminds her of home? Has she mentioned anything that she’s always dreamed of doing or something that she’s been dying to do again?

Keep your eyes and ears open to things that make your girlfriend happy, and you’ll start to get a better picture of the things that she’d appreciate. Take advantage of the fact that you know her well so that you don’t end up going out of your way to do something that doesn’t really resonate with her. Sure, it’s the thought that counts and you can’t really go wrong if she sees that you’re making an effort, but there are so many cute things to do that she’ll love!

So without any further ado, let’s take a look at how to make her feel special in your eyes!

As we begin this article on cute things to do for your girlfriend, let’s cover the basics. No list of thoughtful ideas would be complete without:

Breakfast in bed: Who wouldn’t want to wake up to their partner bringing them a freshly cooked meal, made with love? What better way to start the day… When you’re thinking of special things to do for your girlfriend, this is one of the best. If you’re feeling creative, you can even make some food art – Mickey Mouse pancakes, strawberries and raspberries in the shape of a heart… the possibilities are limitless!

Cook her favorite food: Speaking of preparing food, you could bake or pick up something like banana bread or muffins and leave it in the fridge for her for the morning. Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy!

Massage: This one is pretty straight forward. Pretty much everyone loves getting a good massage!

Post its: One of my personal favorite thoughtful things to do for your girlfriend is leaving Post-It notes for her to find. You could leave one on the bathroom mirror saying, “Hey beautiful, have a great day today” or you could even slip one in her favorite coffee mug. Think of something sweet that will make her smile. You could also hide a note or a short love letter in her luggage if she goes away on a business trip if you’re looking for nice surprises to do for your girlfriend.

Coupons: One of the more playful things to do for your girlfriend is to make her coupons or vouchers that she can use whenever she likes. For example, you could buy some “admit one” tickets and on the back of as many as you like, write things like “Valid for one massage!” Or “Valid for one kiss!” Use your imagination and make it fun!

Call to say you love her: One of the easiest things to do for your girlfriend. From time to time, you can call her up just to say I love you. And now I have Stevie Wonder’s song stuck in my head… “Just called to say I love you”

Winks and blowing kisses: When you’re in the same room at a social event, wink at her or blow a secret kiss. Not only will it make her smile, but it will also reinforce the complicity between you!

Sometimes you feel like doing something a little more out of the ordinary. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, or if you just want to show her that you appreciate something she did for you, you’re looking for a cute thing to do for your girlfriend. It’s always nice to have something that you can hold on to, so I wanted to share some ideas with you about that!

Carve your initials: Instead of doing this on a tree, find a piece of wood or a small part of a branch that you can take home and carve your initials with a heart. This way you can keep it with you at home and she an always have a little reminder of your love on hand.
Hide a photo: Take a photo of you two that you like and write something sweet on the back, and it’s OK if it’s cheesy! Just speak from the heart. The goal is to make her smile. Slip it into the visor clip in her car and let it surprise her the next time she opens it.

Surprise dinner in the garden/balcony/rooftop: Whether you’re celebrating something of just feeling fancy, this is a good one when it comes to nice things to do for your woman. When she comes home or comes over, surprise her with a dinner on the rooftop terrace of your building (is it’s safe and accessible…), in the garden, or even with a picnic in a nearby park if the weather permits!

Keeping things fresh and fun in a relationship is the best way to make it long-lasting. So many people let the routine take the spark out of their relationship, but by looking for simple things to do for your girlfriend on a regular basis, you’re on the right track!

Nice things to do for your girlfriend: It’s her birthday!

In addition to regular gestures that make your girlfriend feel loved and appreciated, a birthday calls for something special! The more thoughtful the gift, the better. Now is an especially good time to think about your girlfriend’s hobbies and what she really likes.

For example, if she plays guitar, get her engraved guitar pick that says, “I pick you!” Think of things that show that you care, but also that you know her like the back of your hand!

Draw a birthday card: A sweet thing to do for your girlfriend is to draw your own birthday card. It doesn’t matter if you’re good at drawing or not! Hey, you could even do stick figures and it would be cute because it’s coming from you.
A balloon with a note inside: cut a thin strip of paper and write something loving on it. Feed it into a balloon with “Pop me!” Written on it in sharpie, and then blow it up. You could even give it to her with her birthday cake for an added little something.
“Open when” envelopes: Here is something you can do that will last for a long time. On as many envelopes as you want, you can write “Open when…” and then put something different on each one. “Open when… you’ve had a rough day!” “Open when…You need a reminder of how much I love you!” Come up with things that would be appropriate for each “title.” Think of funny stories of things that have happened to you together, some of your favorite things about your partner, or memories that never fail to make you smile. Have fun with it!
A surprise party with her friends: If this is something that you think she’d like, organize a surprise party for her birthday with her closest friends. It could be at a restaurant she’s always wanted to try or even at a bowling alley for some relaxed fun.
Camp/picnic indoors: This one is something fun that not many people think to do… To shake up the routine and do something cute for your girlfriend make a fort or pitch a tent in your house or apartment! Make it cozy with pillows and blankets, and have a bottle of wine handy. Spend the night there or have a little picnic-style dinner. Similarly, you could set up a picnic in your living room. This is especially great if the winter months in your town are too cold for you to be outside!
Voice art: I came across this idea recently and I think it can be something nice to do for your girlfriend or even someone in your family that you love for that matter! You can record yourself saying something like “I love you,” and the sound waves are then transcribed to paper and framed. Cool, right? Click Here

Things to do for your girlfriend: When it’s your anniversary

I know a lot of people are looking for good gifts and activities for anniversaries! There is just so much that you can do, sometimes it’s hard to pick! Well, you know what? Who says you have to pick just one?

Photo album: Yes, I know you’ve heard of this idea time and time again, but what if you put a little twist on it? What if you only put funny pictures, or pictures in which you’re laughing, or even ones in which one of you is blinking? You could also just pick a theme from travels or experiences you’ve shared, and include photos of those. For example, the roads you’ve traveled together if you like to road trip, beaches you’ve visited together if you like to surf… You could also intersperse cut-outs from relevant maps, airline tickets, or anything that serves as a keepsake from special moments shared together.
List of “together let’s”: Take a piece of paper (you could even frame it) and write out twenty to thirty things you’d like to do together as a couple. Add anything you like from having bacon and eggs in bed to traveling to India! Here are a few ideas to help you get started: take a bubble bath, watch fireworks, zoo, kiss underwater, Ferris wheel, slow dance, sleep in a tent, split chili cheese fries, watch the sunrise, road trip…
Save copies of keys of all the places you’ve lived in together: another anniversary gift for her that I heard recently was making copies of all the keys to places in which you’ve lived together, and putting them on a keyring or laying them flat and framing them.
Cut out hearts from maps of places you’ve visited together – Keep maps from all of your travels (or acquire them after the fact) and cut out hearts that you can arrange in a frame. If you want, you could include more local places that are meaningful to you and add captions like, “First kiss” or, “First I love you.” Leave one blank at the end and label it “The Future!”

Sound wave necklace – On websites like hatch.co (www.hatch.co) artisans can make personalized gifts like a necklace that has the sound waves from your voice saying something like I love you transcribed onto metal.
USB mixtape – The age of tape players may have passed, but you can still make a mixtape for your sweetheart and allow her to play it on her computer! Check out www.MilkTape.com, and you can make one of these for about $15
Cheesy ideas: Don’t ever underestimate the power of cheesy gifts like mugs or t-shirts. Everyone likes something silly from their sweetheart from time to time!
Sometimes a sweet gift for your girlfriend or a loving gesture is the best way to calm the waters after a storm. It’s normal that we have disagreements and you’d like to find something that melts any remaining tension.

Perhaps you were in the wrong and you’re looking for cute things to do for your girlfriend in order to say sorry. Apologizing is, of course, necessary but you could add to it by getting her cookies or cupcakes with “I’m sorry” written in frosting on the one in the middle. If you want to try your hand at baking, why not give it a shot now?

A note or letter is always a good call as well. Admitting you’re wrong or showing that you’re willing to work as a team to find common ground is very important in a relationship. Sometimes people’s pride gets in the way of their complicity, and don’t forget the importance of complicity.
